Once there is agreement on the review question and eligibility criteria, the protocol requires further information regarding the planned search, selection of evidence sources, data extraction and presentation of the evidence. Within these sections, it is important to consider detailing the following: Will your planned approach lead to a transparently reported and methodologically rigorous scoping review? Will your planned approach answer your review questions? How will each of these components be conducted and reported? Who will conduct them? How will you manage disagreements when selecting evidence sources and data extraction? Do you plan to extract any equity issues, and if so, which framework will you use? Specific details on how to conduct the search, selection, data extraction and presentation of the evidence are provided in the following sections.
