Standardized PowerPoints, using the JBI template, are provided in electronic format to trainers. The format of the PowerPoint slides may not be altered and the JBI branding on them may not be removed **under any circumstances**. The PowerPoint slides, as part of the CSRTP training materials, are subjected to both internal review and external peer review annually and, as from 2017, will only be changed when necessary (approximately once a year) following internal review and feedback from the training network. When changes occur, the “old” PowerPoint slides will be removed from the Trainers portal and replaced with the new set. Trainers will be notified when this occurs and are required to use the new material.
**Please note:** Participants should not get access to the actual PowerPoint files, only the PDF version supplied.

Each slide has an accompanying teaching notes section which is displayed underneath. The notes section is organized into four parts – slide explanation, references, examples and discussion points and questions for the class. The slide notes are there to assist and supplement the teaching of the facilitator.

Slide Explanation

The slide explanation section has been written in a script format. It describes the information on the slide as well as additional material relevant to the topic covered in the slide. The level of detail provided in this section is comprehensive; it has been designed this way in order to accommodate the varying levels of trainer knowledge. New or beginner trainers may need to refer to the additional content covered here more heavily than the more advanced or experienced trainer. It is not an expectation that trainers will deliver every piece of information covered in the slide explanation section word-for-word however it is expected that trainers will present all the information covered on each slide in appropriate detail.

References

References are provided on individual slides where required. Where possible JBI materials have been cited. A full reference list is provided at the end of each module.

Examples

Examples to illustrate concepts covered in the slides are provided where needed. The examples provided are optional - trainers may use them to help demonstrate concepts or they may choose to use their own examples (e.g. examples that are more culturally applicable or examples that are more relevant to their area of practice).

Discussion Points and Questions for the Class

A series of questions are provided throughout each module to generate participant discussion. They are structured as open-ended questions that aim to either relate the content back to the participants’ own workplace and experience or to stimulate their scholarly thinking. Answers are not provided to these questions; essentially there are no right or wrong answers and are purely provided to generate discussion and debate.
