**The JBI Train the Trainer: CSRTP Program**

***Introduction***

The JBI Train the Trainer: CSRTP program is designed to enable JBIC core staff to become registered trainers and to deliver the JBI CSRTP. The demand for JBI training has increased and expanding training capacity by registering JBI trainers has assisted us in meeting this demand and generates opportunities for health scientists and professionals to improve health outcomes by offering education and training in evidence-based practice near to their own locality. The program also creates opportunities for JBIC entities to generate revenue; to raise their profile locally; and to build partnerships in their jurisdiction.

In registering trainers, JBI permits JBIC entities to trade on JBI’s well-established brand and to offer programs that represent considerable investment by JBI. As such, JBI is required to ensure that the courses taught on its behalf meet the standards associated with our brand; that JBI trainers have sufficient knowledge, understanding and skill to facilitate learning; and that the JBI brand is neither unacknowledged nor brought into disrepute.

The Train the Trainer (TtT) program consists of two parts:

- Part 1 – An online course and assessment designed to test participant’s knowledge of the course content and ability to use the software
- Part 2 – A face-to-face (or online) teaching assessment designed to assess trainers’ ability to effectively teach the course content and use of the software to others

Part 1

Part 1 comprises of an approximately 20-hour pre-course program and an online pre-course assessment that must be completed satisfactorily no later than two weeks before commencement of the Part 2. The pre-course program focuses on the content and processes of Modules 1, 2 and 3 of the CSRTP and the JBI Scoping Review Workshop (SRW) . The actual course content will change in line with any methodological modification to the CSRTP or the SRW. The online pre-course assessment will seek to establish that the participant has a sound understanding of the content, teaching and learning processes of the CSRTP and SRW. Progression to Part 2 of the TtT program will be limited to those who successfully complete Part 1.

Part 2

Part 2 of the TtT program consists entirely of assessed micro-teaching activities. During the program, participants will be required to satisfactorily deliver four sessions from across the three modules of the CSRTP and the SRW with only minimal prior notice. The TtT program is facilitated by the Executive Director, Directors and senior staff from JBI offices in Adelaide. Senior staff of JBI will be required to verify that, in their opinion and based on the performance of the student trainer during the four-day TtT program, the student trainer is sufficiently knowledgeable and skilled to deliver the program.

Participants present and record the allocated sessions to either a live audience or a remote audience using platforms such as Zoom (*refer to your particular course requirements*). When using video recordings, these must include participant participation and the slides presented. The video recordings can then be uploaded onto the Learning Management System (CANVAS) for grading by JBI's trainers.

It is not possible for those who complete the CSRTP one week to participate in the TtT program in the following week (unless attendance at the CSRTP is a refresher for that reviewer).
