The EITP program must be delivered in a synchronous (live) medium, as opposed to asynchronous or pre-recordings. It can be delivered in person (face to face), via remote attendance using online video conferencing software, or as a hybrid model.

**Timing **

The EITP must be delivered live (synchronous delivery). The standard format for the EITP is to be delivered over 2 weeks (Week 1 as the commencement of the program and Week 2 as the conclusion of the program) during a 6 month duration. However, trainer's may elongate or split these weeks how they deem appropriate for their participants. Other options include splitting each day in half or smaller sessions which can be spread over a week or a longer time period.

A longer program timeframe (normally 6 months) can be requested if participants will require more time or interruptions occur that are out of the control of trainers.

**In Person (Face to Face) Training**

When teaching in person, it is essential to have access to a networked computer for each participant; access to medical databases; and sufficient space to facilitate small group work. Some trainer's use computer rooms, whilst others may encourage participants to bring their own laptops or devices. It may also be important to seek the organization’s IT staff’s assistance to ensure smooth connection to the internet and to troubleshoot any issues on the computers to be used.

**Synchronous Remote Attendance via Online Videoconferencing Software**

Historically, the EITP has only been delivered in person, face to face. However, COVID-19 required a change in the way this program is delivered. As such, if JBIC trainers have the ability and the technology available, remote attendance to EITP training via videoconferencing software (such as Zoom) can now be offered in line with the requirements below.

If trainers are considering hosting the course via remote attendance, a reminder that only approved materials are used and the entire content is delivered. All activities should still be conducted and the course should still be interactive with the opportunity for participants to ask questions and have discussions and group work.

Trainers need to use the approved materials and teach all the content. All activities should still be conducted and the course should still be interactive with the opportunity for participants to ask questions and have discussions and groupwork.

Trainers need to ensure they are situated in an appropriate environment to deliver the entire program, with good internet connection, webcams, sound audio and the option to coordinate group discussions via break-out sessions.

There must not be pre-recording of sessions.

If the program is being offered via remote attendance using videoconferencing software, trainers are required identify this mode of learning (face-to-face or remote attendance) when completing their training Registration Form.

In 2020 and as a result of COVID-19 training challenges, we asked trainers to provide the following feedback information when undertaking EITP via remote attendance. This is no longer required however from time to time we may ask trainers to provide this information for our records:

- Technology:
 - What technology was used?
 - Did you utilise any specific features of the technology, such as breakout rooms, chat forums, participants sharing screens etc?
 - Was the use of technology successful?
 - Did you face any barriers using the technology?
 - How did you facilitate the activities using the technology?
- Modifications to delivery
 - What modifications did you need to make to the way you deliver the course? (Note: all content and activities should still be delivered without modification)
 - Were these successful?
- Participant feedback:
 - What were the views of the participants regarding the online course?

The above is also good information for new trainers to consider when delivering EITP for the first time using remote attendance platforms.

**Hybrid Training**

Hybrid (a mix of in-person and online attendance) is also an option for trainers. In this case, care must be taken to ensure that the experience for online attendees is as equal (as possible) for those attending in person, and that they still have the ability to interact and engage with trainers and the materials. This may be facilitated by having a trainer specifically monitor the online attendees and prompt their engagement.
